DIY: Detoxify Your Skin AT Home With This Bad Boy

When we think of detox, we usually think of detox drinks or colon cleansers. But you can also detox your body by taking care of the most important external organ, your skin! Did you know that our skin is called the “Third kidney”? It is called the third kidney because our skin’s primary function is to get rid of toxins. So one of the best ways to detox our skin is to use a Dry brush. That’s right! this bad boy can detox your skin from outside-in.

The dry brush method has been used for thousands of years by Greeks, then Japanese and American Indians. They used dry corn cobs to brush off dead cells on their skin. According to researchers, dry brushing with a corn cob was their secret for longevity.

Hmm, if I want to live longer all I have to do is use a corn cob to detox my skin? – exactly my thoughts when I found this out.

Dry brushing involves using a brush or any rough material that can take off dead skin cells. Here’s what else dry brushing is good for:

  • Accelerates toxin elimination
  • Stimulates blood flow and circulation
  • Improve digestion & Kidney Function
  • Reduces cellulite by redistributing Fat cells
  • Unclog pores
  • Stimulate Your Nervous System

Use a natural bristle brush with a long handle, so you can reach each part of your body. You can also use a loofah sponge, gloves, or a dry face cloth.

  1. Start brushing your feet then upward your legs. (Brushing the front and back of your legs.)
  2. Then, once you reach your abdomen area always brush towards the direction of your heart. Use brisk circular motions or strokes.
  3. After you finish brushing your abdomen and chest go up your neck and down your arms, back and buttock area. ( do not dry brush your face since your face is very sensitive.)
  4. Remember to brush lightly on sensitive areas like your breasts and soles of the feet.

Note: You can dry brush before or after a shower. Most women dry brush in the morning, since toxins build up when we are sleeping. After brushing it is recommended to drink eight glasses of filtered water because water also help remove toxins. In addition to drinking eight glasses of water, you should massage your skin with pure oils. Like almond, avocado, olive, cocoa butter or coconut. This will help keep your skin hydrated.

Dry brushing is not recommended for pregnant women or women with sores and sensitive skin. For everyone else, purchase a dry brush at your local beauty supply store and practice this skin care regimen 5-6 times per week for 5-10 mins, to get faster results.

Summer Walker Chooses Mental Health over Wealth

“ I truly appreciate all the support and love. As you know, I have been very open about my struggle with social anxiety. I want to continue to be healthy and to make music for y’all, so I have decided to cut down some of the dates on the tour.” Said the 23 year old “Girls Need Love” singer.

Summer goes on to say that the tour doesn’t coexist with her social anxiety and introverted personality. As an introvert myself, I totally understand where Summer is coming from. She also stated that she is a person with feelings, she get tired, sad, and it’s a lot.

“ I don’t want to lose myself for someone else. I want to give y’all what I can, so I’m going to keep making music and I’m going to do a few shows, but I can’t finish.”

More women should consider choosing their mental health over wealth. Now, I’m not saying stay in your bed for weeks and not make a single dollar, absolutely not. But know when enough is enough. Know when it’s time to rest, when it’s time to take a break, when it’s time to say no, when it’s time to put yourself first. You can not pour from an empty cup. Belly Dance The Pain Away: Natural Cramp Cures That Work

If you suffer from severe menstrual cramps or see changes in your normal flow we highly suggest seeing a doctor. For the women who don’t need medical attention and want to get rid of their cramps naturally here’s what you can do.

1. Drink one or two cups of Red raspberry tea daily or days before your period. Red raspberry is a uterine tonic that can help relieve cramping and pelvic congestion. Uterine tonics are Women’s herbs for the female reproductive system. It’s mostly use to tone the muscles of the uterus during childbirth.

2. Eat more anti -inflammatory foods to reduce menstrual cramps. Have a daily serving of oil rich fish like salmon, cod or sardines to help reduce cramping.

4. You need more calcium. Try taking 1,000 milligrams a day. Magnesium helps too, but you don’t want to go over 200 milligrams once or twice a day. Too much magnesium can give you diarrhea.

5. This one is a old-school remedy. Use a Castor oil Pack to get rid of menstrual cramps. First, Spread enough castor oil on your abdomen and cover it with a plastic wrap. Then, place a heating pad or warm moist towel on your stomach. The heat will relax your muscles, causing the cramps to slowly disappear.

6. Now here comes the fun part. Studies show that exercise ease the premenstrual and menstrual symptoms. Here are two types of exercise shown to help relieve menstrual cramps.

Yes belly dancing, it is said that the movements taught in belly dancing are good for stretching your pelvis and keeping your cramps under control. In Egyptian cultures, belly dancing was a method used to increase blood circulation in a woman’s body; which prevent menstrual cramps. I highly suggest belly dancing a week or two before your period.

-Yoga is also good for menstrual problems because it relaxes your body causing pain to be less intense.

6 Tips To Save Money This Summer

I haven’t always been great at saving money in the summer. I have kept the air conditioner on for hours. I have spent tons of money eating out. I even signed up for gym memberships, using them for a while then forgetting all about them. If you have any of these problems then keep reading.

1. Cut down on air conditioning

First things first turn the AC off girl. Use a floor or ceiling fan. A lot of people underestimate ceiling fans but it gets the job done, making you feel just as nice and cool as you felt with the air conditioner on. If you’re in a hot climate try using a programmable thermostats, which can cut down energy costs. Also, replace your air filters regularly. Sources say dirty filters are less efficient and increase cooling costs.

2. Save on Laundry

Nice weather is a good reason to air dry your clothes for free. Give your dryer a break or even better save your quarters you was about to use on drying your clothes at the laundromat. Change up your laundry habits, this is an easy way to save money in the summer.

3. Skip The Gym

If possible, cancel or put your membership on hold in the summer time. Try running or jogging in the park. I don’t know about you but that funky smell at the gym drive me crazy. At least when you’re working out outdoors you can smell the fresh air and you can get a cool breeze while working out.

4. Save on Transportation

This one might be hard but rather than driving, consider taking a ride with a friend or family member. Another way to save gas money is to take public transportation or even better you can walk if you live close to work. One thing that actually worked for me was meal prepping. Start prepping on Sunday and make foods that you will enjoy for Monday thru Wednesday. Then Thursday and Friday treat yourself but don’t go too crazy especially if you’re trying to save money.

Some of us are emotionally numb because we have been disappointed so many times. Go Back For A Second…….. Yes that’s right, go back. Now I’m not saying to dwell on the past but telling a person how you truly feel can sometimes make you feel good. In fact people who often hide their feelings are ones to dwell on the past .This is why it maybe good to contact an ex, an ex friend or a family member to get whatever is on your mind off. You might not always get the response you’re looking for but that’s ok. The purpose of contacting them is not to reconnect or fix anything, or maybe for you it is but it’s to help you heal and to turn your emotions back on. Let’s try this today, contact whoever caused you pain or said something to hurt your feelings and tell them how you feel. Boss up and get it off your chest. You got this girl !

Don’t Avoid Your emotions. Instead of avoiding your emotions, deal with it. The next time you are feeling overwhelmed or stressed out hit the brakes. Take some time, a day or so to figure out whats adding on to your stress and what you can do to eliminate the headaches. Get in tune with your feelings as deeply as you can. As soon as you feel any type of emotion whether you are happy or sad let it out. Express how you feel. If you don’t you will eventually develop anxiety or depression. Researchers say women are more likely than men to develop a mental illness such as depression. Not to say that men don’t have to deal with life but women have multiple roles. Some of us are moms, bosses, family caregivers and much more. Often times we handle all of these roles without taking time to get in tune with our feelings. I can relate to this, can you? If so, it’s time to protect your mental health and release whats been killing you inside.

Cry It Out! Laugh it out ! Girl regulate your emotions and cry it out. Don’t be ashamed of your emotions. Those tears only show that you are human. But sometimes you have to laugh before you can cry. If you don’t usually deal with your emotions by crying try laughing it out. Do Whatever works for you just don’t avoid your pain, your feelings , your frustration…… or you will end up sick. Mentally.
