As a long time naturalista I am constantly trying new hairstyles and seeing what does and doesn’t work for my hair. With summer right around the corner it is imperative to have a good natural hair routine as well as go-to style so hair is the last thing you have to worry about. Here are natural hairstyles perfect for summer!
- The Wash-n-go
I’ll start by saying the wash-n-go is not for everybody, at least it’s not truly a wash-n-go for everyone. My hair is fairly simple I can wash and detangle it in 10 minutes in the shower, add my products and do my little routine fairly quickly. My sister has a tighter hair texture so wash-n-go’s take much more time to achieve and aren’t as easy. If your hair is pretty simple to work with a wash-n-go may be ideal for you for the summer months as it doesn’t require much maintenance and is perfect for the water.
2. Box braids
Who doesn’t love box braids for the summer? Box braids are versatile, always in style and can last up to two months when care for properly. You can literally rock box braids the entire summer and look cute the whole time! Investing in box braids will save you money on hair products and salon visits during the summer and even more if you can do them yourself.
A good bun is a timeless and pretty effortless hairstyle. Buns can be worn at upscale events, to day parties, turn ups, the beach, you name it. Buns are a great way to keep your hair simple yet cute all summer long and you don’t have to worry about your hair touching your back or rubbing against your clothes as you hop from summer festival to last minute summer vacation flights.
4. Twisted style
As much as I love wash-n-go’s it’s fun to play around with quick and easy hairstyles. I love how this hairstyle is simple and easy to do but also adds a cute twist to the average wash-n-go.
5. Fro Hawk
Another great and simple to do hairstyle is the fro hawk. This style is so easy and cute all you have to do is a cornrow braid on both sides of your hair then pin up your hair that is left out.
How will you be wearing your hair this summer?
