It can be hard to keep your scalp moisturized, especially in the winter. All the moisture in your hair can be drained because of the cold temperature. This can cause your entire scalp to be dry which can lead to dandruff. But to avoid dealing with this there are a few tips you can follow.
Change your Shampoo
Use products that contain natural ingredients, stay away from products that contain sulfate. Sulfate dry out your scalp fast because it cleans both the built-up dirt in your hair as well as the oils and moisture that your scalp and hair shafts need. Moroccan oil hydrating shampoo and shea moisture Jamaican black castor oil shampoo are both good hydrating shampoos. Moroccan oil shampoo is high in fatty acids and vitamin e which make it a good treatment for dry flaky scalp. Shea Moisture Jamaican black castor oil shampoo has natural ingredients like Jamaican black castor oil and raw shea butter that deeply moisturizes dry brittle hair while healing, growing and strengthen the hair. For best results wash your hair in cool to warm water. Hot water can dry out your hair shaft and damage your scalp.
Hair Mask (DIY)
Hydrating hair masks can handle dry scalp and damaged hair. Hair masks are packed with all different types of hydrating ingredients to help replenish dry scalp and brittle hair. There are four hair masks we highly recommend. Papaya Hair Mask is filled with antioxidants, vitamins, and potassium that can help keep your hair in hydrated in the winter time. You should oil your scalp at least once a day to keep it hydrated. The reason why we recommend oil and not grease is because grease contains ingredients like petroleum and lanolin that can attract dirt. Grease and dirt combine can clog your scalp pores. This will make it even harder for your scalp to absorb oil. You will not have this problem if you use natural oils to moisturize your scalp. The best natural oils to try are coconut, olive, and jojoba oil. All three oils prevent dryness.
A diet rich in fatty acids like flax seeds and salmon can help eliminate dry scalp. Also staying away from coffee and alcohol can help alleviate dry scalp. Caffeine is a diuretic that can cause the body to lose water. Staying hydrated is so important when it comes to your scalp. Adding more hydrating drinks and foods to your diet will balance out your scalp issues.
